The latest release from Astral Records finds Paul Anthonee back in the spotlight with a new EP. Acting as the label's A&R, the Cyprus based producer has the distinction of delivering the imprint's inaugural release. Landing in March of 2021, Paul's 'A World Beyond' four-track showcase quickly found favour with melodic house and techno tastemakers, immediately making the label a desired destination. Fast forward one year and Paul has had a litany of successes, with appearances on Harabe, Movement Recordings, Steyoyoke and UV sitting as the most notable. Now on the strength of a contribution to the Running Clouds 'Divergence' collection, Paul returns to his comfortable home of Astral with 'Tripleta'.

The first selection 'Oracles' sets the tone with a pulsating, hypno-groove and otherworldly effects. Stripped and tense in equal measure, Paul builds drama across the first act with catchy chord stabs, percussive splashes and a backdrop of prophetic pads. The lead swells further as the main break takes shape, opening up into a dystopian style ecstasy and gently teasing the senses, before getting pulled back as the warm groove drops and meditative structures take you through a spellbinding finale.

Continuing on a darker monochrome are the wintry qualities of 'Omnia'. A tough, shapely groove sits at the foundation, while crunchy rhythms and layers of fascinating percussion fill in the framework. Its flair for the dramatic grows as icy effects and arpeggiated meanderings shift the narrative across the second act. One final break provides a sense of cosmic reflection through spectral synths and prophetic drones, eventually getting washed away into a sea of pulsating grooves and fiery percussion.

The third and final selection 'Osa' sits as a perfect complement with its otherworldly vibe and dynamic dance floor appeal. Chugging beats and charged grooves set the foundation for haunting vocal pads, tranquil arps and sweeping effects. Opening up further, the main break adds depth and emotion as processed vocal samples, clustered melodies and effervescent sonics unite for a classy crescendo and reflective finale. It rounds out a welcome return to Astral Records for Paul Anthonee, an artist who furthers his place amongst the world's finest melodic house and techno producers with 'Tripleta'
