Tash's Movement Recordings rounds out the month of March by welcoming Nosh and SJ to the label for their debut EP. Emerging in 2013, the Indian duo quickly became residents at some of Mumbai's trendiest nightclubs, while their distinct sonic aesthetic landed them key production credits via Dopamine Music, Eat My Hat and Juicebox Music. With 2022 being highlighted by a remix of Jorge Viana's 'Encélados', Nosh and SJ get 2023 underway with their Movement Recordings debut 'Energy High'.
Aimed squarely at a peak hour dance floor, 'Energy High' marries trance-inducing rhythms and striking percussion with punchy beats and rolling grooves. An array of prophetic stabs and devilish effects steals the air across the first act, sweeping in and out of the stereo-field, as robotized vocal samples add depth and intrigue leading into the main break. The vocal takes centrestage across the interlude, as rising modulation continues to elevate mood, before a rush of drums sparks an intense crescendo and charged finale.
The companion piece 'Roll It' continues the duo's dancefloor minded approach. Landing with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship, the Indian duo plant multiple explosions of serotonin through muscular basslines, hypnotic chord stabs and precise percussive arrangements. Ominous overlays make for a break that is both dynamic and tense, flowing through a haze of filtered effects, before a timely vocal sample confidently summons the groove for a sweeping aerial finale.
